MRS Agar (de Man, Rogosa and Sharpe Agar) is a selective, nutrient-rich microbiological culture medium specifically formulated for the isolation, enumeration, and cultivation of Lactobacillus species and other lactic acid bacteria (LAB).

Preparation (Typical)

Suspend the recommended amount of MRS Agar powder in purified water

Heat with agitation until completely dissolved
-
Sterilize by autoclaving at 121 °C for 15 minutes

Cool to 45–50 °C and pour into sterile Petri dishes
