🔬 Principle of the Medium

Campy CVA Agar combines a nutrient-rich blood agar base with selective antibiotics:

  • Cefoperazone → inhibits Gram-negative enterics
  • Vancomycin → inhibits Gram-positive bacteria
  • Amphotericin B → inhibits fungi

This combination creates a selective environment allowing Campylobacter spp. to grow under microaerophilic conditions (reduced oxygen, increased CO₂).
