Non-Selective Enrichment Medium for Coliform Detection
Catalog No: AS-1263 Dehydrated Powder HS Code: 3821.00
Reliable Coliform Detection & Enrichment Medium
Lactose Broth is a non-selective enrichment medium used for the presumptive detection of coliform bacteria in food, dairy, and water samples. It contains lactose as a fermentable carbohydrate, allowing coliform organisms to produce gas, which can be detected using Durham tubes.
Widely used in Most Probable Number (MPN) testing and recommended by APHA methods, Lactose Broth also functions as a pre-enrichment medium for Salmonella recovery.
Applications
- Coliform detection (e.g. Escherichia coli)
- Food, dairy, and water microbiology testing
- MPN analysis
- Pre-enrichment for Salmonella
Key Features
- Non-selective enrichment medium
- Lactose fermentation with gas detection
- Supports coliform growth in mixed cultures
- Suitable for single and double strength
