Tetracycline Hydrochloride is a broad-spectrum antibiotic derived from Streptomyces aureofaciens. It inhibits protein synthesis in bacteria by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit and preventing the attachment of aminoacyl-tRNA. Due to its well-characterized mechanism of action and effectiveness against a variety of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, it is a valuable tool in microbiological, molecular, and biochemical research.
This laboratory-grade material is supplied as a yellow crystalline powder with high purity and excellent aqueous solubility. It is commonly used as a selective agent in microbiological media, tetracycline-regulated gene expression systems, and antibiotic mode-of-action studies.
- Antimicrobial susceptibility testing
- Evaluation of bacterial resistance in laboratory strains
- Selective microbiological media supplementation
- Selective agent in tetracycline-regulated gene expression systems
- Plasmid maintenance and regulated promoter studies
- Research involving inducible expression systems
- Pharmacological studies of antibiotic action
- Veterinary and agricultural research in controlled settings
- Biochemical studies on bacterial protein synthesis inhibition
