Bifidobacterium Broth
Bifidobacterium Broth
Nutrient Liquid Medium for Cultivation of Bifidobacterium infantis
Catalog Number: AS-1139
Overview
Bifidobacterium Broth is a nutrient-rich liquid culture medium formulated for the cultivation and maintenance of bifidobacteria, with particular suitability for Bifidobacterium infantis. The balanced combination of peptones, yeast extract, tomato solids, glucose, and Tween 80 supplies essential amino acids, vitamins, carbohydrates, and growth factors required for robust bifidobacterial growth.
Optimised at pH 6.8 ± 0.2 and intended for use under anaerobic conditions, this broth is widely applied in clinical microbiology, probiotic quality control, fermented food testing, and gut microbiota research.
Key Features & Benefits

Principle of the Medium
Bifidobacterium Broth provides a reduced, nutrient-rich environment suitable for anaerobic bifidobacteria:
-
Tryptone and peptone supply peptides, amino acids, and nitrogen
-
Yeast extract provides vitamins, nucleotides, and trace nutrients
-
Tomato juice solids contribute organic acids and additional growth factors
-
Glucose serves as a readily fermentable energy source
-
Tween 80 enhances nutrient uptake and cell membrane function
Together, these components support consistent growth and maintenance of bifidobacteria under anaerobic conditions.
