🔥 Thermophile Recovery
Target: Bacillus coagulans Indicator: Bromocresol Purple Carbohydrate: Dextrose
Diagnostic Clarity
Visual Detection - Rapid pH color shift
Rich Nutrients - Supports fastidious spores
Thermophilic Focus - Optimized for heat-stable flora
Reliable - Consistent results in low-acid foods
Indicator Range
Purple (pH 6.8) → Yellow (pH 5.2)
🔬 "Flat-Sour" Reaction Mechanism
Thermophilic "flat-sour" bacteria ferment the dextrose in this medium, producing acid without gas. The Bromocresol Purple indicator shifts from purple to yellow as the pH drops, allowing for clear visual identification of spoilage organisms like Bacillus coagulans in samples that otherwise appear physically unchanged (flat cans).
