Overview
IPTG (Isopropyl β-D-1-thiogalactopyranoside) is a synthetic molecular biology reagent widely used as an inducer of the lac operon in bacterial gene expression systems. Unlike lactose, IPTG is not metabolised by β-galactosidase, providing stable and sustained induction of lac-controlled genes.
Ausamics IPTG is supplied as a high-purity, dioxane-free crystalline powder, manufactured under strict quality controls. Each batch is accompanied by a Certificate of Analysis (COA) confirming purity and the absence of dioxane, ensuring consistent and reliable performance in research workflows.
Applications
-
Induction of recombinant protein expression in bacterial systems
-
Molecular cloning and lacZ-based gene expression studies
-
Optimisation of protein production in Escherichia coli and related hosts
-
Biotechnology and pharmaceutical research and development
Principle of the Product
IPTG functions as a non-hydrolysable analog of lactose, binding to the lac repressor and preventing repression of lac-controlled promoters. This results in controlled transcription of downstream genes, enabling precise induction of recombinant protein expression without depletion of the inducer.
