Lysine Agar
Overview
Lysine Agar is a high-performance differential medium designed to quickly distinguish Salmonella and other Enterobacteriaceae based on lysine decarboxylation.
If you’re running food safety or diagnostic testing, speed and clarity matter. This medium delivers sharp, easy-to-read colour changes — allowing you to confidently separate lysine-positive organisms (like Salmonella) from non-decarboxylating bacteria.
Formulated with L-lysine, glucose, and a precise pH indicator system, it provides both strong growth and clear biochemical differentiation in a single step.
Why Labs Choose This
✔ Clear purple vs yellow reaction — no guesswork
✔ Reliable differentiation of Salmonella spp.
✔ Strong growth support for enteric bacteria
✔ Works seamlessly with standard ID workflows
✔ Consistent performance across batches
Where It’s Used
Food & Beverage Testing
• Rapid screening for Salmonella contamination
• Routine QC in dairy, meat, and ready-to-eat products
Clinical & Diagnostic Labs
• Biochemical identification of enteric pathogens
• Integration into multi-test identification systems
Research & QC Labs
• Enzyme activity studies (lysine decarboxylase)
• Microbial characterisation and validation
Why This Medium Matters
In real-world testing, weak colour reactions and inconsistent media slow everything down.
Lysine Agar solves that by delivering:
→ High contrast colour shifts
→ Reliable enzyme detection
→ Faster decision-making in the lab
That means fewer repeats, clearer results, and more confidence in your data.
