Overview

AuSaMicS Methylene Blue 1% w/v (AS-54001) is a cationic phenothiazine dye prepared at 10 mg/mL in high-purity deionised water. As a biological stain, it binds electrostatically to negatively charged cellular structures — nucleic acids, polysaccharides, and acidic mucopolysaccharides. As a redox indicator, it cycles reversibly between its oxidised (blue) and reduced (colourless leuco) forms.

Local supply advantage Manufactured and quality-tested at our Thomastown VIC facility. Heavy metals tested below standard threshold. COA, TDS and GHS-compliant SDS with every order. Technical queries handled directly by the formulation team.
Staining Mechanism
MB⁺ (oxidised — deep blue)  ⇌  Leuco-MB (reduced — colourless)
             + e⁻ / − e⁻ (reversible equilibrium)

Staining:   MB⁺ + Nucleic Acids / Polysaccharides
↓ electrostatic binding
Stable Blue Complex
The cationic MB⁺ molecule binds strongly to anionic biological structures via electrostatic attraction. The phenothiazine ring system intercalates between nucleic acid base pairs, producing intense, stable blue colouration that resists washing under standard staining protocols.
