Polysorbate 80 (Tween® 80)
A high-performance non-ionic surfactant and emulsifier. Widely used in microbiology to stabilize emulsions, promote growth of oleic acid-requiring organisms, and neutralize preservatives in disinfectant testing.
Cat No: ASC-8066 Microbiology Grade Emulsifying Agent
Product Overview
Polysorbate 80 (ASC-8066) is a versatile fatty acid ester. In culture media, it serves as a critical source of oleic acid for fastidious microbes (e.g., Mycobacterium spp.) and acts as a wetting agent to ensure homogeneous dispersion of lipophilic components.
Key Function:
Commonly used in D/E Neutralizing Broth and Letheen Broth to neutralize quaternary ammonium compounds (QACs) and other preservatives during environmental sampling.
