Overview
Tryptic Soy Broth (TSB) is a nutrient-rich, general-purpose, non-selective liquid culture medium used for cultivation, enrichment and maintenance of a broad range of microorganisms.
Also known as Tryptone Soya Broth, CASO Broth, Trypticase Soy Broth and Soybean-Casein Digest Broth, TSB combines pancreatic digest of casein and papaic digest of soybean meal with dextrose, sodium chloride and dipotassium phosphate.
The balanced nutrient composition makes TSB suitable for general microbiological cultivation, enrichment procedures, inoculum preparation, research, food and environmental microbiology and laboratory quality-control workflows where a non-selective nutrient broth is required.
How the Formulation Works
Provides peptides, amino acids and other nitrogenous nutrients supporting microbial growth.
Provides complementary nutrients and growth factors within the medium.
Provides a readily available carbohydrate source.
Contributes to osmotic balance in the prepared broth.
Provides buffering capacity to support pH stability.
