Overview

Meat Extract Powder (AS-1005) is a dehydrated, water-soluble concentrate prepared from beef muscle tissue. It is produced by controlled extraction, concentration, and drying of beef infusion to yield a standardised powder rich in free amino acids, short peptides, nucleotides, B-vitamins, creatine, and organic growth factors.

AS-1005 is the direct equivalent of Merck/Sigma-Aldrich Cat. 103979 (Meat Extract Granulated for Microbiology) and Oxoid LP0029, meeting the same verified specifications: Total nitrogen 11.5–12.5% (Kjeldahl), Amino nitrogen 3.5–4.5%, pH 6.0–7.5 (5% aqueous), Loss on drying ≤6.0%.

Functional Components

❓ What is the difference between Meat Extract and Beef Extract?
They are the same product described by different names. "Meat Extract" and "Beef Extract" both refer to the dehydrated concentrate of bovine (cattle) muscle infusion, CAS 68990-09-0. Commercial names include Lab-Lemco (Oxoid), Beef Extract (BD Difco), and Meat Extract (Merck/Sigma). AS-1005 is equivalent to all of these.

Preparation Guidance
